License Status
Your Atrium instance's license can be in one of three states.
Active
Normal operation. The instance has a valid, non-expired license and has successfully checked in with the Control Plane within the grace period.
Everything works as expected according to your tier's entitlements.
Grace period
The instance hasn't been able to reach the Control Plane for an extended period, but the cached license hasn't expired yet. Default grace period: 30 days from the last successful check-in.
During the grace period:
- All features continue to work normally.
- The admin dashboard shows a warning indicating that the Control Plane is unreachable and how many days remain in the grace period.
- Warning severity escalates as the grace period progresses.
Common causes: Network outage, firewall misconfiguration blocking outbound access to the Control Plane, DNS issues, or Control Plane maintenance.
Resolution: Restore outbound HTTPS connectivity to cp.atrium.sprocksystems.de. The next successful check-in resets the grace period.
Read-only mode
The grace period has expired without a successful Control Plane check-in, or the license has been explicitly revoked.
In read-only mode:
- All existing data remains accessible. You can view visitors, download archived PDFs, access audit logs, and export data.
- New operations are blocked. No new check-ins, no new visits, no new users, no configuration changes.
- The admin dashboard shows a prominent notification explaining the situation and how to resolve it.
Read-only mode is the ethical middle ground: your data isn't held hostage (you can still access and export everything), but you can't continue operating without a valid license.
Resolution: Restore Control Plane connectivity, or contact support to resolve licensing issues. Once a valid license is restored, the instance returns to active mode immediately.

- Expiry date: When the license expires.
- Last check-in: When the instance last successfully communicated with the Control Plane.
