Standby Screen
The standby screen is the kiosk's idle state — the screen visitors see when they walk up to the tablet. It's designed to be inviting and self-explanatory: the visitor should immediately understand that this is where they check in.
What's on the standby screen
The standby screen displays:
- Welcome message — A greeting text (e.g., "Welcome").
- Current date and time — Updated every second, displayed in the site's configured timezone.
- Site name — Shown in the top-left corner so visitors can confirm they're at the right location.
- QR scan prompt — A "Scan QR Code" button with an animated QR icon. Tapping it activates the camera.
The screen is intentionally minimal. There are no login prompts, no visitor lists, no admin controls visible. The only action a visitor can take is to start scanning their QR code.
Auto-return to standby
After a check-in is completed, the kiosk automatically returns to the standby screen after 30 seconds (or immediately if the visitor taps "Done"). This ensures the kiosk is ready for the next visitor without manual intervention.
If a check-in is abandoned mid-flow (the visitor walks away), the kiosk will time out and return to standby after a period of inactivity.
Branding
The standby screen uses the design tokens configured for the Atrium instance (colors, fonts). Custom branding per tenant (logo, custom welcome text, background image) is a future capability.
